How to care for your rug:

Rugs are made for use. So the first thing you should do is use and enjoy your rug.

 

  • Regular vacuuming is a good way to keep fine dust and sand out the rug pile and to help it last longer. We recommend a beater brush for the pile and only suction for the fringes. Do not vacuum the fringes with a beater brush.
  • Direct sun light can fade your rug. We recommend special window film or window treatments that block the suns harmful rays. It is a recommended to turn your rug to even out any fading and to help reduce major traffic patterns and wear.
  • Rugs should be professionally cleaned every 3 to 6 years depending on the amount of use they get. PEYKAR provides a cleaning service. Please look at our cleaning tab for more details.
  • Many rugs have hard twisted yarn used in their pile. There can be sprouting in these rugs. Sprouting is when strands of yarn unravel and stand up out of the pile. This can be resolved by snipping the longer yarn at the pile surface with scissors.
  • Hooked rugs have a continuous yarn construction. Pulls should be pushed down with the tip of scissors before they spread.

This process removes ground-in dirt, gently, without crushing the wool, and in most cases restores the original look and texture. The drying process is an integral part of the cleaning process. Rugs not properly dried that are allowed to remain wet for too long, can develop problems such as mildew and dry rot.

 

We also offer HAND-DRY CLEANING. This is a process in which we clean the rug with a dry cleaning method. All work is done by hand. This process is recommended for silk rugs, extremely fragile textiles, or rugs that have “fugitive” dyes which may tend to run in a wet cleaning method.

Pet Urine Removal

We know it is very disappointing to find that your pet as stained your rug, but we offer a Pet Urine Removal Service that will correct your rug to its original state.  This is a three part process that consists of a restoration cleaning to remove an yellowed discoloration, a color restoration service, and then a guaranteed odor removal process.  When this is done your rug will to be within 80-100% of its original pre-stain condition.
